From the moment she sounded out most of the words in the 1961 classic, Go Dog Go, reading has been an integral part of Helen’s personal and professional life. A second-generation reading teacher, Helen brings over three decades of expertise as a classroom teacher, curriculum coordinator, reading consultant, remedial reading tutor, school librarian and parent of two grown voracious readers and a new grandson!. Go Reader Go was a natural extension of her lifelong passion and fascination for helping both struggling and able readers choose, enjoy books, and apply best practices for lifelong reading. When she isn’t writing, consulting, gardening or reading, Helen does remote remedial tutoring on beautiful Orcas Island in Northern Washington state.
Listening to The Adventures of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie as a child introduced Katrina to the magic of books and inspired her towards a lifelong love of reading. Katrina brings an international perspective and over 25 years of experience as a classroom teacher, curriculum coordinator and reading consultant in Australia, the United Kingdom and, the United States. Now living outside of Melbourne, Australia she continues teaching, supporting colleagues in the Science of Reading and is raising three avid readers.
